Designer Mystery Block Eight

Tonight, I finished 2012 Designer Mystery Block of Month, Block Eight "Lime Sherbert".

This is an easy block to put together. The block is basically 4 flying geese units and 8 half square block units. The half square units are made using 3 different fabric combinations.

First, you need to combine the center unit, the teal/white units and the green/teal units into a 4 piece block.

Lay the units on with right sides down and sew with a 1/4" seam allowance, making two different units, then press the units to the green/teal half square.

Then lay the two combine units on top of one another, with right side facing each other, with a 1/4" seam allowance and press open.

Now, to layout the rest of the unit units around the new center unit.  Place the Flying Geese around the center unit with teal facing inward.  Then place the white/red units around in the corners with the red pointing out (not like bottom left side, LOL.).

Assemble the units, by laying the right side white/red half squares on the flying geese with the right sides facing each other. Also lay the right side fly geese on top of the center unit with the right sides facing each other. Sew all these units with 1/4" seam allowance.  Press open, with the half square unit pressed away from the center, and the center unit press toward the center.  Then repeat, with the left side, making 3 piece units.

Lay the top unit face down, lining up the seams, and sew the two units together with 1/4" seam allowance, and press open toward the sky and repeat the process with bottom unit.

Makes one 12 1/2" unfinished unit!
