I have finally caught up on my homework for the Christmas Joy Class at Michelle's Quilts. The last class we started working on the basket row and the checkerboard rows. The basket row is a time consuming row, do to all the little pieces in the baskets. The checkerboard rows was also a little time consuming do to I need 7 rows for finishing the quilt. They are attached to the top and bottoms of every row we have made to far in the class. After getting them all sewn together yesterday, It is starting to look almost finished.
One more class to make the Poinsettia row and the Candy Cane Binding. This is going to be a really nice quilt top when I get this one finished. Today, I need to finish cutting everything out for the next row class is in a couple days. Yikes!!Tina

Sunday, was a great day to sew since my husband had to work this week. So, I finished my homework for the Christmas Joy Sample Quilt Class, which was to make row #4 the Tree row. The pattern want you to make it out of creams for the background and green for the trees. Well, I decided to instead to make the background out of my blues and I'm so glad I did. It goes so well with the church row.
I also got the top and bottom strip of the joy row on the row, after spending the day yesterday redoing the row. My reasoning to redo the row, was the row was 2 1/2" short, I found out on Friday my 1/4" seam allowance was off. So, on Saturday evening after taking apart a few piece of the row and measuring a few things it was just better to redo the whole row. I'm so glad I did, It will make everything look nice and measure out right in the long run.
Next Friday, will be the next class, we will be making the checkerboard sashing pieces and the basket rows. Only a couple of classes left and we will be done. Peter is a great teacher, and I'm learning more and more every class.Today, since my workout is done, I will grab my coffee and start a new project. Tina

So, yesterday I put the church together and starting cutting out the tree row. This was a fast and easy row to put together. The steeples are done with foundation piecing which make a nice point for the tops.

I finally have finished working on the 8 blazing star blocks for the Christmas Joy Quilt Class. I liked working with the foundation piecing, but the stars are a very hard and time consuming. It took me over 4 days to just to get this row completed. It came out very nice for my first time at foundation piecing.
Next Class will be Friday afternoon/evening, we will be making the Joy row. Looking forward to that class. I have my pieces cut and ready for that class.
Tomorrow, I think I will work on getting the borders on the Deer in Minnesota Quilt. Looking forward to getting that one complete also.

This week was learning the Blazing Star row, doing foundation piecing. Foundation piecing is fairly easy to me after doing the first couple pieces of the star. It is getting everything so the points line up and looking nice that makes is hard. But getting the hang of it. I did get the first green block done and started on the first of the red blocks before the class was over. The class was small and lots of fun. The last couple day, have been pretty busy. Lets see where should we start. Friday was my extra day off, but I found out that my husband was off also due to all the overtime he had been working that week, which was great. So Friday, my oldest son, my husband and myself went to lunch together. Then my husband and I went to the county courthouses to get the last bit of paperwork we needed done for the getting Quilting Affections set up as a business. Just waiting on the application to be approved and we are done, Yeah!!! Then we went and did some errands at Target. After that we headed out to Michelle's Quilt Shop, to pick out fabric for a new pattern we are designing, more on that coming soon. When we finished at Michelle's we came home and I did some free motion practice on the longarm. The rest of the evening I sat watching t.v with my feet up working on finishing binding the Jelly Roll Quilt. I almost finished it that night just had a half a side to do, but my eyes were tired, so I went to bed.
On Saturday morning, we were planning to head to IKEA, but the wind was really strong. So we decided to stay home and get a few thing done around the house, and so glad we did. I finished the Jelly Roll Race Quilt, another quilt done and off my list to finish. Next, I started washing and ironing fabric that we got at Michelle's on Friday. Then I started to clean my studio, but during the cleaning I ended up rearranging things in the room. In the mist of rearranging we moved the Embroidery Machine into that room so my husband and I can work together in the same room. While working on that I finished washing some other material that need to made into quilts. So after I was done with all the rearranging I had lots of ironing to do, but I got it done. I still have a few thing to put away from the rearranging but I like the new set up; much easier to get to things. I ended the night by putting the binding on the Memory Quilt for my son, and I was starting to do the hand stitching by the time I went to bed. 
Today, I am hoping to get some practicing on the longarm done. I found an old quilt (UFO) yesterday that needed to be quilted and I will practice with it. I think i will start with some designs on practice material to see If I like it or not before I load the quilt. I may also work on some the new pattern designs. Well will have to see what the day brings us. Hope you all have a great Sunday.Tina

Well today was one of those day, that plans got changed slightly. I decided to go for a run, but it ended being a nice long one. I really need to get a long mileage in to test myself to see where I am at this time, since I have a 10-miler race in the Middle of April and a 1/2 Marathon in May. I think am doing better than I thought, we will have to see in a couple weeks.
After my run, we went out to Michelle's Quilts and talk to her about my longarm and the patterns I'm making. She gave us a lot of ideas to work on. We also picked up the border fabric, for the Jelly Roll Race quilt. Afterwards, I really didn't want to go any where else, so came home and started practicing on my longarm.
Late this afternoon I started practicing the new panto that will be the one I use on the Jelly Roll Race quilt. I am starting to get the hang of this pattern and I maybe able to load the quilt on the machine by next weekend and finally get this one finished.
Hoping I will keep with my plan tomorrow, to be in the studio with the longarm and more practicing.

Michelle's is the local authorized Brother Dealer. She is very knowledgeable in the Brother machines, and all of the servicing of the machines are done in the store by a factory trained technician. They also an authorized dealer of the Handiquilter Longarm machines. Michelle has a couple in the store, that she uses for a quilting service which she also offers.
Now the most important thing I think Michelle's Quilts has is it friendly atmosphere and helpful attitude. As soon as you walk in the store, Michelle makes you feel like old friend. She is always willing to drop everything and answer any questions or help in any way. Her husband and daughter are the same way. So you will always feel welcome.
