Yesterday,
was a very productive day in the sewing studio. After a few errands in
town, I finally got to start sewing around 1pm and was finished by
5pm. I
started by adding the Poinsettia row on the quilt top, which it lined
up really well was please. Then I then cut 9-5" strips out of the
border fabric. After carefully measuring and making sure the quilt was
square I then, add the borders a little different than I have on other
quilts. I started with the long side borders first. The went on very smoothly. Then I prepared the top borders. 
First, I made 72" piece of green border fabric, then I added the
checkerboard blocks to each of the sides of the green fabric for both
pieces. Then, I carefully pinned borders to the top and bottom to make
sure the corners lined up perfectly and sewed them on.I'm
finished and it is ready for quilting now. But that is going to have
to wait, a little bit. I have a trip coming up starting next Tuesday to
California. I need to finish a couple of patterns under development
before we go, due to they are going with us.Today, finishing cleaning my sewing room and some quilting on the longarm. Hope everyone has a great weekend.Live, Inspire and Create,

The
last couple of days have been busy ones. Tuesday, while I started
cleaning my sewing room I got distracted by my UFO Christmas Joy Quilt
project that has been sitting on my side table since last October, that
should of been finished by Christmas. I decide since I just need to
finish one more row, I would go ahead 
and finish it. I
left off with last row #6, Poinsettia Row. I had finished the first
section of the row, during my class I was taking on the quilt. 
Before
I stopped working on this quilt I had finished the piecing of the
blocks, so they just needed the poinsettia stems and leaves machine
appliqued on the blocks. After
all the poinsettia blocks where finished, I add the background fabrics
almost to make the blocks set up on point. The rows finished at 72 1/2"
wide. 
I just need to trim the make the height at 14" high.The
I finished by add checker border row to the bottom of the row. It just
need the row sewn to the bottom of the Basket row and the main part of
the quilt will be finished. Then Borders, I think I will finished this
week. Yeah!Yesterday,
I did not get any sewing done, I was doing errands and desk work! This

Its been almost a week since my last blog posting, Yikes time has gone so fast over the last week. Life has been busy for me, since my last posting on the Christmas Joy Quilt, I had my last class were we made the Poinsettia Row, which is the last row. We got one block done and the corners put on the block, I just need finish the other 4 blocks up to finish the row. Almost done with this quilt, then time it will need to be quilted. 
Speaking of quilting, I have been also been 
practicing with some meandering designs and some applique echoing on an old Quilt that has been waiting for quilting for over 15 years. I hand appliqued all the Tulips on this quilt years ago, the Pattern came from a QuiltMaker Magazine. I was originally, going to hand quilt this quilt but I never really got very far so, I took the basting stitches out and put it on the long arm for practice. I have also been practicing my feathers which have been a challenge for me, put starting to get them looking nice. The feathers are going on the borders, which is great practice for me. I need to finish this tulip quilt so, I can put the next one on when ready. Half way there already.
In the sewing room, I have 2 more projects being assembled right now, besides the Christmas Joy Quilt. One is another Christmas quilt for a friend and the other will be one I will be selling on Etsy.
Hoping to get alot of quilting and sewing done this next couple of weeks. Have a great Monday,

Its been almost a week since my last blog posting, Yikes time has gone so fast over the last week. I have finally caught up on my homework for the Christmas Joy Class at Michelle's Quilts. The last class we started working on the basket row and the checkerboard rows. The basket row is a time consuming row, do to all the little pieces in the baskets. The checkerboard rows was also a little time consuming do to I need 7 rows for finishing the quilt. They are attached to the top and bottoms of every row we have made to far in the class. After getting them all sewn together yesterday, It is starting to look almost finished.
One more class to make the Poinsettia row and the Candy Cane Binding. This is going to be a really nice quilt top when I get this one finished. Today, I need to finish cutting everything out for the next row class is in a couple days. Yikes!!Tina

Sunday, was a great day to sew since my husband had to work this week. So, I finished my homework for the Christmas Joy Sample Quilt Class, which was to make row #4 the Tree row. The pattern want you to make it out of creams for the background and green for the trees. Well, I decided to instead to make the background out of my blues and I'm so glad I did. It goes so well with the church row.
I also got the top and bottom strip of the joy row on the row, after spending the day yesterday redoing the row. My reasoning to redo the row, was the row was 2 1/2" short, I found out on Friday my 1/4" seam allowance was off. So, on Saturday evening after taking apart a few piece of the row and measuring a few things it was just better to redo the whole row. I'm so glad I did, It will make everything look nice and measure out right in the long run.
Next Friday, will be the next class, we will be making the checkerboard sashing pieces and the basket rows. Only a couple of classes left and we will be done. Peter is a great teacher, and I'm learning more and more every class.Today, since my workout is done, I will grab my coffee and start a new project. Tina

Friday evening, I had another class on the Christmas Joy Sampler Quilt at Michelle's Quilts. We were putting together the church row and the tree row this week. 2 rows at one time seems a lot but really we are just repeating the same trees in the church row into the tree row.
So, yesterday I put the church together and starting cutting out the tree row. This was a fast and easy row to put together. The steeples are done with foundation piecing which make a nice point for the tops.
Today, I will work on the last of my homework assignment on this class, which is putting the row 4 together the tree row.Tina

This week was learning the Blazing Star row, doing foundation piecing. Foundation piecing is fairly easy to me after doing the first couple pieces of the star. It is getting everything so the points line up and looking nice that makes is hard. But getting the hang of it. I did get the first green block done and started on the first of the red blocks before the class was over. The class was small and lots of fun. Now, to get the row done and the pieces cut before the next class in a couple of weeks.Off to the sewing room today, to work on some projects. Have a nice Sunday!Tina
