Wow,
It has been a long time since I have written a blog post. Since last
blog post I have completely swamped with the last bit of preparing to
launch the new patterns we have working on the last years. Now, we are
almost done and ready go to print on the first two of patterns. 
More on these patterns here in the next week or so. Really looking forward to show you all.Yesterday, I decided to start working on all my blocks of Month. First was the last of the 2013 Designer Mystery Block of Month #12, "Ruby Primrose". 
Started with making all the blocks, first off was the 8 flying geese. Next was the corners pieces and center pieces.
Now,
all the blocks are made, so now I can put this one together shortly.
But I will catch up on the Kansas City Star Blocks first before the next

Yesterday,
was a day of catch-up. I spent the morning catching up my desk work.
Then, I moved into the sewing room cleaning and boxing up the T-Shirt
Quilt for Shipping. I will mail, once I hear from my customer. 
After
the cleaning, was done I started working on Block 11 of the 2013
Designer Mystery Block of Month. Block 11 is called "Perennial
Petals". Once that pieces are cut and marked, I made 4 half square
triangles. 
Then I started on the pedals, which is a 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" rectangles, with 2 squares sewn on the bottom corners.
Next, I assembled the 9 patch center, with the 2 1/2" blue dot in the middle.
After I laid out the block with all the pieces, the assembly of the block was fast and easy.
Now, I just have one more block and the quilt blocks will be done and I can put the quilt top together.Well Time to go into the studio, and get working on the next project.I hope everyone has a great sewing and quilting day.Live, Inspire and Create,

The week has been busy! Between a lot of desk work with preparing patterns for proofing and working on transferring content to the new website. Then this last weekend Robert and Myself attended a Floriani Embroidery classes at The Quilters Studio in Fairfax, Va. They were great classes! Hope to get a blog our here on it in the next days. Anyway I had been doing any sewing, and I was getting the sewing itch! So yesterday, since it was snowing here I decided to is the day to sew.
I just got my new 2013 Designer Mystery Block #8, "Heartfelt Home". I decide this is what I would work on first. As the title says it was another house.
I started out with cutting, all the pieces out, and laying them out where they would be in the block. This gives you any idea where the stitches are going to be.
Next I started, with the roof! The main part of the roof has 2- 2 1/2" squares sewn diagonally on both ends to make the roof look like it was slopes. The top of the was the chimney piece, which was 3 pieces.
Now, was to work on the body of the house. I started with working with the window and sides of the house, two to make. They add a new fabric for the windows that was a striped. Which was a great touch to the house.
The door was next, basically it was 4 blocks sewn together. The red block was the door, and again there is the 2-1/2" blue polka dot fabric in the middle of the quilt again.
After you have the door way and sides section together. I sewed them into all 3 into one big piece to make the main body of the house.
Then, I sewed the roof and the body together to make the finished block.
I'm officially caught up with this Block of the Month, now I have to wait until February for the next one to come in the mail.
Today, we are working on website and hoping to do more sewing, since the high here will be only 23 degrees outside.

Wow! Can't believe I'm on block 7 of the 2013 Designer Mystery Quilt. This one seems to be going really fast this year.
Block 7 - "Lemon Lodge" is just as it sounds. This one is a house block, with yellows as the main part of the house.
This one went together fast and easy. After I cut the pieces, I laid them out where they would be placed in the block.
Then I began with making the roof line, door and window areas.Then made the base and other part of the house.
After everything was made I then sewed them all together to make the full house. Like said this one was fun, easy and fast to do.
Now I'm caught up and ready for the next block to come this month. I have noticed that the middle of each block is the blue dot 2 1/2" square. Interesting!!

I got a little time, the other day and made up Block 6 of the Designer Mystery from Fat Quarter Shop. Block 6 is called "Sparklers". This block uses a lot of diagonal lines to make the center for the block. 2 of the large rectangles were have squares on both ends to make the half chevron look on the block. Combined with half square triangles it makes a nice center of the block.
After the center is made, it is time to make more pieces with diagonal lines. You make 4 of these.
And 4 of these. This one you need to sew the large red square on first on the corner, then you sew the small green square over the red triangle to make this look.
Then you just add these to the outside of the center block. You can start to see the why the name of the block is "Sparkle".
When done it looks like this.
It was a fast block to put together.

After
that you need to sew the 2" squares across the side ends so they across
the three different fabrics. Need to that for both sides. The Petals
are done once you trim and press open.
Next
you are going to make the center of the flower. You make four small
flying geese units. Then sew them to 2 1/2" green and cream fabrics
that were sewn together. 
The
only thing new for me was the assembly of the roof, but I like how it
was done. The roof starts as 2- 5 1/2" half-squares. Then to make the
cream background to it you add a 4 1/2" square to the top left hand
corner and sew them diagonally across and press open. The corners a to 1
1/2" rectangles with 1 1/2" squares sewn on the corners. Then the
rectangles are sewn on the corners to make the corner pieces of the
roof.
The
bottom half of the house was easy, making 2- windows out of 1 1/2"
squares. then adding all the long rectangles around it to frame in the
windows. The Blue dots fabric is back in the center of the block and is
a continuing theme in the quilt blocks. I liked the touch of green at
the bottom of the block to make the grass in front of the house. 
3 more block months! Looking forward to seeing the last row of blocks to see how this quilt will look like when finished.
