Started Quilting On Mystery Quilt!

The 2012 Designer Mystery Quilt is finally getting some quilting done on it.  This one will be getting some free motion quilting done on it.

Lots of stitching in the ditch and design work on this on it.

I started with stitching in the ditch the top borders and then added the details, of leaves, flowers and swirls.

In the corners I have added a nice design in the middle of the geese, and added some  diamonds in the corners also.

In the rows, I have also been stitching in the ditch.

Now adding some details to the main blocks now that I have ditching done in this row.

I think today, I will go in the studio and start a new project, and my be continue working on this afternoon or tomorrow.

Pulling all the blocks together, Part 2!

Time to finish the quilt top with some borders.  Border #1 is a thin one in white to give it the finished look.

Border # 2, nice red the is a little wider than the first border.

The final border is a little different from any other quilt I have done, adding 3" x 6" flying geese on each of the corners.  I cant believe that I got them on the first time, looks sharp.

Now, it is time to quilt this one, think a little free handing is going into this one.  More Practice!!

Now, time to make a new quilt top, starting tomorrow.

Pulling all the blocks together, Part 1!

I'm getting use to my new morning schedule, and feeling really good and lots of energy.  I have already lost a couple of pounds in the first week.  While I'm getting use to my new schedule, I have been slowly working on the borders on the 2012 Designer Mystery Quilt top.

It all started with cutting all the pieces for the flying geese sashing blocks.  I made 12 units of each color, which made 48 flying geese units for the inner geese blocks.  The flying geese units were bordered with 2" x 12 1/2" on both sides of the stack of geese blocks.

Then, started sewing all the block to the flying geese sashing units to make up the rows.  Just remember that one unit of geese points in the opposite direction.

After all the rows are made, then I just need to make and add the middle unit that was the sewing.  Making the middle unit was easy compared to sewing all the rows together.

With everything lined up the middle section is now together, now for the borders, that will be in the next post.

New Routine, and lots of Errands!

Sorry I have not written in a while, I think Monday was my last posting.  I have been a little busy adjusting to a new schedule.

As of this week, I started going back to the gym in the mornings.  Which eats up a good portion of the morning for me.

At the first of the week, I was really tired by the time I came home and showered, I really didn't feel like sewing.  By Tuesday, I made my self get out there and do some sewing felt great.  My husband and I have been doing some diet changes, which is helping both out a lot.  Wednesday and Thursday, after my morning workout we had nothing but errands to run around town, by the time we were done we were done for the day, with the almost 100 degree heat.

Now after working out 5 days in a row, I'm ready to get out there and work, but I have to leave to go get the car serviced, and cleaned.  Then I will be back to get to my sewing.

Thanks for being patient with me, I will keep you all my posted on my progress.  Hope to get you more posts out here shortly.

Weekend of Pattern Designing!

On Friday, I sewed the binding on the front Tulip Quilt. now in the evenings during our downtime, I have been working on hand the binding to the back, which it should be done in a couple of days.

For a few months now, I have been working on the drawings of some applique patterns I have been want to make up.  My husband has bugging me to make them up, so I made several differant version of the pattern this weekend. I'm close, but I need to tweak this once again and get some second opinions on these versions. I would love to show you these patterns, but I plan on making these up for patterns to sell here in the near future.  It was fun to work on a pattern that I designed, I have so many designs on paper that I want to make up here in the near future.

Today, I plan to start working on sewing together the Fat Quarter's Shops 2012 Designer Mystery BOM together.

Hope you all had a good weekend!

Home from Denver Trip!

This past weekend, My husband and I had a wonderful car trip to Denver, Colorado. We were delivering our sons new car off to him at Buckley AFB.  My son bought a new car but could not get the leave to come get it, so my husband and I took a long weekend and drove out to him.

It was so much fun to drive across the country for 2 days.  We saw lots of historical landmarks. We had fun looking up the information on our phones and reading about them as we drove by.  We saw all lots of military bases, such as Wright Patterson AFB, in Ohio.  The community is so much into the AFB that they had the under passes painted blue and gray, with planes on them.

Once we arrived in Denver, we had a such a good time with our son.  He has a great life started there, and is so happy with his career choices.

The weather was hot in the afternoons, but it would cool just enough to have a nice walk in the evenings.  I was sad to leave and come back to the east coast.

We got back home around 2am this morning, so I'm catching up with my mail, and few other things.  I will be going into the sewing studio and sewing on the binding on the Tulip Quilt here in a bit.  Need more coffee, first.

Tulip Quilt Done!

Well after almost of 2 weeks of quilting, I have finally completed quilting the tulip quilt.  I'm pretty happy with the final product.

I used Quilters Dream Deluxe Poly, to give it a little more loft.  Now, I just need to make and sew on the binding.  Hope to get to that starting mid week next week, after my Colorado trip.

Huge Progress, but still quilting!

Well the last two days have been long and I'm still quilting on this quilt top.  In this week so far I figure I have put in over 14 hours in just working on this quilt top, and it has really paid off with some huge progress.

I have just about completed all the sashings, except the every last row.  All the middle blocks are now complete.

I have now started working on the background of the Tulip blocks, now that my new ruler has come.

I finally feel that the end is now near and I can't wait to get this done, so I can work on some other projects.

My goal, is to finish this top by Friday, due to the I will be leaving town on Saturday morning.

Stay Tuned, I will post as soon it is finished!
