With March here the 2016 Island Batik Ambassadors were given there first Challenge. Design and Make a Mini Quilt no bigger than 24" x 24".
I have never worked with something that small, so this was a real challenge. After playing around in EQ7 I came up with my Mini Quilt, but what fabric should I use. It was a hard choice from what fabric was included in my Island Batik Ambassador Box.
My choice of fabric was 4 of the 5" strips from the Stash Building Package. My challenge then was to make a 13" x 13" Mini Quilt out of these strips. Would I have enough fabric?
My Mini called for Flying Geese and Half Square Triangles. The piece size ranged from 1 5/8" to 3" squares. It was a great challenge to work with these small pieces and it was fun.
After making 9 blocks measuring 3" square, my final product is a cute 13" x 13" Mini Quilt. I have to say it was also fun to quilt. I love practicing my stippling on my longarm; yes I did put it on my longarm and it was a fast 5 minute quilt job.
Oh by the way, I did have enough fabric to finish the binding.
Have a Great Quilting Day,
Tina
