Kansas City Star BOM #9

First off I would like to apologize for the down website on Sunday, we were trying to get it fixed as soon as possible.  We came back up first thing the web service opened this morning mountain time.  We now have the emergency of hours number so we have the problem again we can get it fixed immediately.

Yesterday, was a busy day of quilting and sewing.  I caught up on my latest Kansas City Star Block of the Month and Started quilting a string quilt for my mother-in-law.

The latest block was Month 9 - "Pin Wheels" which was first published in the Kansas City Star Newspaper in 1930.

KC Star Block #9
Using 4 different fabrics cut  2 7/8" squares and 4 1/2".  On the light block draw diagonally lines  on the wrong side on the 2 7/8".  Then combining them with the green and brown fabric and sewing 1/4" on each side of the diagonal line.
KC Star Block #9Then cut apart on the marked line and press to the dark side.  Square up to a 2 1/2" x 2 1/2".  Making 16 half square triangles (hst) of the green and 4 brown half square triangles.
KC Star Block #9Once all the half square triangles are made layout the squares this way to make the pinwheels.  Assemble the units, combining the units by sewing laying the right on the left side unit. Press the top half units to the right and the bottom units to the left.  When all the top units and the bottom units are assembled sew the the top to the bottom and press to the bottom.  Making 4 units of the green.
