Double Four Patch Quilt and Pattern

The Moda Marbles I choose was Pink Sherbert and Baby Pink. They colors blended so well together, I was pleased.
The Double Four Patch is a easy quilt block for the beginner quilter. It consists of two four patch blocks and two solid square blocks. You can get the Pattern for this quilt HERE.
Start by 15-2 1/2" x WOF strips of each color.
From those strips take one of each color and lay them so the right sides facing together. and sew them together with a 1/4" seam allowance. Make 15 Strip Sets.
Sew them together with a 1/4" seam allowance. Pressing the seams open toward the dark fabric.
On a cutting mat and ruler you will cut subcut the strip sets into 2 1/2" segments. The ruler I'm using is the Bloc Loc Strip Set Ruler. It has channel locks that will lock to the seam and makes seams and fabric straight to get a nice straight accurate cut.
You will need 252 for this size quilt.
Out of the Darker fabric cut 16 strips 4 1/2" x WOF, then subcut them into 126, 4 1/2" squares.
Assemble the block as shown above, with the 4-patch block light colors going all in the same direction. Press seam to one side. Block should measure 8 1/2" x 8 1/2".
Take 2 blocks and lay them out so the look like the photo above. Start with sewing just the top row together. Make 31.
Then assemble the block so they look this above big block above. Make 12 that measure 16 1/2" x 16 1/2".
Assemble all the blocks together. Refer to the Pattern for more instruction on this assembly processes.
Once you have all the blocks sewn together you just need to add borders. For this quilts I added 3 borders. Border 1- 2 1/2" (Dark fabric), Border 2- 4 1/2" (Light fabric), Border 3- 6 1/2" (Dark fabric).
I finished this quilt with Quilters Dream Select batting and a pantograph called Garden Frills by Bean Girl Quilts.

Fabric Treatment for Silhouette

I prepare my fabric for my Silhouette, with Terial Magic Stabilizing Fabric Spray. This spray allows your fabric to become stiffer, and fray-resistant which you need when working with Applique. The product is easy to apply in just 3 steps you will have your fabric treated. Terial Magic lasts but is water soluble and can be washed out if needed.
