Road trip to Houston!

Wednesday started a two day road trip to Houston, Texas for me and my husband.  The car was packed full of quilts, display items, and patterns for the Quilt Market. That morning we left at 5am est time to start our first day of our adventure.  We traveled through Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama.  Traffic was easy until we hit Atlanta, but the traffic was not as bad as it was normally is the DC area.  Atlanta has some cool, tall buildings. It was 8pm before we stopped for the night in Mobile, Alabama.

The next day we got up early again to hit the road, we want to get into Houston between 12pm and 2pm CST time.  This leg of the trip we traveled through Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas.  We arrived at the convention center little after 1:30pm, which was great because the rest of the group we are working with had just arrived also.
We started in right way starting to set up the booth areas.  Laying floors and hanging curtains, placing table clothes.  Then we separated to our little sections and set up our areas.  I signed up for 6ft section (now wishing I had a bigger section).  I was put in the middle of 2 other designers that had smaller sections. Luckily, we did a dry run days before at home, so I picked up more supplies for display options.  The dry run helped and made it much easier to set up our area.

The area came out beautiful and amazing, i think we will have to see what the response is when the show opens tomorrow.
Today, we went back to the Convention Center to help with more setting up and we will see what else happens.

If you are the International Quilt Market this weekend please stop by our booth #1445, we would love to see you.

Three Witches Brew - Halloween Haunt Blog Hop

Today is the second day of the Halloween Haunts Blog Hop and also my day to show you  two exciting Halloween patterns I developed this year.
For my latest pattern, I had a a lot fun and inspiration in it's development. This pattern is now available on my website as an e-pattern only. The paper version will start shipping October 29. The inspiration comes from my two best friends, we are always up to something mischievous when we see each other, so I came up with this cute pattern called “Three Witches Brew” to celebrate our get together.

“Three Witches Brew” is my first fully designed applique using EQ7.  Normally, in the designing we start with pencil and paper then scan and trace in Adobe Illustrator.
“Three Witches Brew”, is an easy raw edge applique pattern.  This pattern doesn’t rely  on Halloween fabrics, but it would look really cute them.  I designed the pattern to use mostly Moda basics, but you can really use anything you have in the scrap bin. The project finishes at 35” x 35”.
“Haunted Manor”, is the next pattern I would like to show you.  This design was first created a couple years ago as a machine embroidery project.  I didn’t like how it was turning out, so I put it away until this year.  Finally with some several different try’s, I came up with this project.
The pattern is an easy quilt that can be a great way to use up your leftover Halloween scraps.  It is also a great weekend project that finishes at 35” x 29” and a great way to liven up the holiday.

Halloween Blog Hop Starts Today!

The Halloween Blog has Start today. Make sure visit today's blogs, My day will be on Monday.

Featured Haunts on Friday, October 16

I have been so busy wrapping up projects for Fall Quilt Market.  I have two new patterns ready to be released to the people in the next week or so.

Our travels to Fall Quilt Market have slightly change.  We now are leaving on Wednesday, October 21st, to drive to Houston. The reasoning for this move to drive to save money and space. We were to the point of not having enough space to pack everything to make the booth look nice. I know it will be a 20 hour drive but my husband and I love a good road trip.  I love Southwest Airlines they make it so easy to cancel your flights and they will hold the refund money for your next flight.  We also will canceled our hotel in the downtown area and are now stay 15 mins away from Downtown, plus now there are more food choices.  In doing this we will save money, Yeah!

Oh if you are going to the Fall Quilt Market come visit me at booth 1445, QuiltWoman.com has setup a nice area for some of us designers to display our quilts.

Well better get busy, I have patterns to print and quilt labels to finish today.
