Quilt Process and Surprise!

Women of CourageProgress has been made on the Women of Courage Quilt.  I have found the middle of the quilt.  Which I started working on yesterday.  I really didn't get much done yesterday, due it I was doing a little spring cleaning around in my office area.  It took a good half a day just to get it to the way I wanted it all.  I decided to get it done since today is our Tax Day, time to meet with the accountant for that yearly task which everyone hates to do.

Ruler and Scissor HolderThe UPS man brought me a nice package in the mail yesterday from my Dad.  He made me this nice ruler and scissor hanger for my sewing room.  I love the bird house shape.  It fits all my sewing rulers great.  My husband will be hanging it up later for me today.

Thank you to my Dad, for this great present!

Time to get sewing before tax appointment!

Happy Sewing and Quilting!

StarBurst Table Topper Quilted!

I was in the mood for some quilting yesterday, so I decided to quilt the Star Burst Table Topper, which I finished sewing together a couple weeks ago.

I used a small left over piece of Pellon 80/20 batting in the middle. I was looking for something light weight and would puff up in some areas of the quilt.

I want to use feathers in this table topper and practice a little more on my Quilt Path automated quilting system, so I found Amish Feathers pattern set at Digi-Tech Patterns. Which was perfect for this quilt top.

I also used a little free handing in the lighter color of the checker board to make the darker color pop out.  I also used used my rulers and put diagonal lines in the red triangles.

In the larger triangles, i put the Amish Feathers to fill the area.   I also used the same feathers in the corners squares by just dividing the square in half and reversing them.

The same feathers were used in the borders.  I put 4 triangles in the borders and joined them.

The StarBurst Table Topper will now get binding on it today and soon I can put on my dinner room table.

Also Today, I will be starting to work on assembling the Women of Courage quilt top.

Hope you all have a great Sewing Day!

Mom's Quilt Finished!

Just finished my mom's quilt top!  She made this quilt top from a JoAnn Fabrics Block of Month Pattern.  She just finished the top just before I went to visit them in October.  She sent me home with the quilt top, binding and backing fabric.  She said to have fun with it and take my time with getting back to her.  Well I did have fun and learn new techniques.

The quilt measures at 79 1/2" x 92".  I used Quilters Dream Deluxe Poly, with Superior thread #50.  The custom quilting was done with stencils, rulers, and QuiltPath computer.

I learned how to add a swirl fill in the background of the applique blocks.

This quilt was great fun!  Just wish I could hand deliver this quilt to my mom, just to see her face when she sees it in person.  Tomorrow will be making the binding!

I now need to find a new quilt top to quilt.  This was fun!

Quilting Progress

Today, I spent first half of the morning, cleaning the kitchen, doing the laundry, and vacuuming.  I got caught up on all the cleaning we didn't get done this weekend, since we were working in the yards.

After cleaning, my son and I ran out to Michelle's Quilt shop for red thread, for the rail fence quilt top that is on the long-arm now.  We also found some nice Batik's, that my son wanted so he can make a lap quilt out of for himself. They are getting some new fabrics in, so I think I need to have to look at some of my patterns I want to make and then go fabric shopping.

When we got back from Michelle's I started working on the Rail Fence quilt. For this quilt top I'm using nothing but rulers.  I'm having fun with this quilt and it is turning out really nice. So far I am making great progress and I will get back to work on it tomorrow.

Time to get the evening chores done, and work on some pattern designs.
