Busy Weekend and another Quilt Top Finished!

This weekend was full of making bindings, labels, preparing quilt backs, and finishing Quilt tops.  On Friday, I spent the day make 4 bindings and labels for quilts that need to be quilted or already done, just need to sew them on them now.

On Saturday, I finished the last 4 block for the Cardinal in the Pines Quilt Top and finished the main part of the top.  I also added the first of borders to the top.

On Sunday, I prepared Outer border fabric for the quilt top by cutting the fabric down into 4 strips.

I mitered all the border corners so the fabric flows all around the Quilt top like a frame.

I also prepared the backing for this quilt top, and I'm working on the backing for the Summer Solitude today.  I will be making the binding and label for this one also today, while I wait for the black batting to arrive today.  Then I will be quilting away!

Quilts Bindings and Labels made!

Yesterday and Today, I made bindings and labels for the 2012 Designers Mystery and the Deer Around Minnesota Quilts.  I normally put regular straight binding on the quilts, but this time I put a Bias Binding on the quilts.  I used the the Bias Binding Ruler and the Binding Tools.

Using the Rules is nice it doesn't waste fabric and takes less time in the long run like the straight binding. I'm finding out I like it much better just need to practice a little more.
I made the labels for both quilts also. I like using my Brother Embroidery Machine for the labels.

The Binding are sewn on the front of the quilts and just need be turned over and hand sewn to the back.  I love using the Wonder Clips for holding the binding to the quilt tops.

Well time to get sewing on those bindings.

Embroidary Quilt Labels!

Yesterday was my last day as a government worker.  Now I can spend my time working on developing my quilting business. I will have more time to work on practicing my free motion quilting and developing applique quilt patterns that I have in draft form while I wait for my Long arm quilting business to pick up.Today, I worked on making three embroidery labels for varies quilts that are in finishing stage right now.  I design them in the Floriani Total Control Pro Software Program, then upload them into our Brother Embroidery sewing machine, and stitch them out. I sewed out the Easy Street, Meadow Friends and the Star Wars Rail Fence quilts.  Custom Labels like these are one of the services I offer on my Quilting Affection website.

I also Finished the Star Wars Quilt top this evening, plus have the backing ready to go on the machine some time this next week.  Now, I have two ready to go, so I think later on this weekend or early next week, I will get this quilted out.

The weather this weekend is to be the nicest so far, so my husband and I plan to do some yard work.  So look forward to getting outside and getting some fresh air.  Hope you all have a good weekend.
