Saturday, was a busy day of Sewing for me in my studio. I started off with Part 5 of Easy Street Mystery.
Part 5 was very easy, this week with no flying geese, Yeah. You need to make 64 3-1/2" house blocks, which is the nick name I gave this block. Start by cutting 64 3-1/2" turquoise squares and from the purple cut 128 2-1/2" squares.
Then draw diagonal lines across the back of the purple squares. Yeah, that is a lot of marking but it is worth it to ensure a straight line diagonally. After you get them all marked, place one of the purple squares on one of the corners of the turquoise and sew across the diagonal line. Sew all the 64 blocks this way.
Once you are done sewing all 64, then take them back to cutting table. From the thread line measure out 1/4" with your easy angle ruler and cut off the rest or the triangle and then press open.
Next take the rest of the purple squares and sew them to the opposite side, like you would do for flying geese. And repeat the process of cutting the triangles and pressing just like before on the opposite side.
It is still a mystery to me on how this will all work together, but it has been fun. I'm hoping you are all having fun with it also.While working on the blocks for Easy Street, I also made a leader/ender project out of my Women of Courage Block of Month part 3. I sewed the first parts of the block while sewing the purple corners, on the turquoise. It was fun to do it that way, plus I got the blocks done.

Just got done with finishing Easy Street Mystery, Part 3. This week was fairly lite in the amount of prep and sewing you needed to do with the clue. You only had to make 64 units, and we start adding the turquoise fabric in to the mix.
You start with cutting from 2" strips, 64- 2" mirror image pairs totaling 128 black on white pieces. These will be used as wing piece for the block. You cut them the same as last week. I already had a few pieces already cut from last weeks flying geese.
Next you need the purple fabric, cut them into 2" squares and you will need 64 of these squares also.
The final units you need to cut is using the 3 1/2" strips. Cut them into 64 triangles similar to the white on black ones, but they don't have to have a mirror image pair.
Start by sewing one side of the right side white on black units on to the 2" squares. When they are all sewn just press open lightly, then you can sew on the left side wing units, and press open lightly also. They open up to be 64 triangles.Now you can take the units you just made and sew them to the turquoise triangles that you cut earlier. Once they are all sewn press towards to the turquoise triangle. This leaves you 64- 3 1/2" square. Like I said earlier, this was pretty easy and it only took me a couple hours to complete. Kind of excited on how this all is turning out.

This last Friday Bonnie posted the next step in the Easy Street Mystery Quilt. At first she informs us we can put the grey fabric away, because we are now done with it.
This week we are making 128 unfinished flying geese pieces that measure 2" X 3-1/2". These geese are going to be made from the white on Black and purple fabric. First we need 128 triangles cut out in the purple. Then a total of 256 white on black right triangles that are divided in half for the left and right sides of the triangles. She also included a video on how to use the Easy Angle and the Companion Rulers to cut out the triangles. Check it out here! It was sure nice to have, as a reference when I began cutting. 
While he was doing the white on black fabric, I started on the purple fabric which needed to be cut into 2" stripes first. Next I used the Companion Ruler, which made it very easy to cut the triangles. The cutting went really fast.
When the cutting was finished I started sewing the right side triangles on the purple triangles. Once i finished I snipped the thread in between each, then iron the right side open. Then began sewing the left sides on and then iron them open. When I was done with all the sewing i had 128 flying geese. I then looked at the Bonnie's Pictures of her finished flying geese I noticed one little thing, I matched the white on black fabric patterns and she didn't match them. Not sure if that will be a big deal, what do you think? 
The only think I need to do now is a little prep work, with the white on black fabric by cutting them into 64 2"x 3-1/2" rectangles. Looking forward to the Fridays step!

Since I didn't get back until late Saturday night from California, I was a little behind on getting started with this weeks steps, my great husband stepped in to help after he learned how to cut with a rotatory cutter. He did a good job on the cutting. He watched the video on the white on black triangles, I gave him the Easy Angle Ruler, the Rotary Cutter, and the fabric. Since I already had 2 inch stripes cut from last weeks steps it made it a little easier for getting that process done. He cut them all up and divided into different stacks for me.
