Island Batiks "SeaSide Summer" Blog Hop - Surf Squirt

The Island Batik ambassadors are hosting a blog hop which started August 15th and runs through September 2nd. Each day we are highlighting beautiful projects made from their Spring/Summer 2016 Collections. All the Ambassadors blogs are full of giveaways and great recipes. So keep on reading!

For myself, I love spending time at the Ocean, it is so peaceful and relaxing to sit and watch people fly kites and listen to the waves coming into shore.  Recently, I got to spend a wonderful day in Ocean Shores, Washington just hanging on the beach with family.

Today, Quilting Affection (myself) and Archipelago Quilting will showing off the "Surf Squirt" Collection. Surf Squirt, is a bright fun palette of fabrics that makes you feel the warmth of summer days at the ocean. When I first saw the collection, it really got my creative designing juices going. So I went to work designing to bringing the ocean and colorful tropical fish into one beautiful and fun quilt.

Here is what I came up with, my new (coming soon) pattern "Beneath the Waves" the pattern that measures 42" x 36" gives you the feel of swimming in the water with fishes or looking inside an aquarium. This quilt would be a lovely, wallhanging or baby blanket.

I designed this pattern so the background water will use 2 different colors that blend together.

The 3 different sizes of fish are all pieced with a variety of beautiful colors.

I am currently working on finishing the pattern now, planning for a first of October release. Stay tuned to my blog for the specific release date.

Now on these hot summer days, it is nice to relax in the evening with a fresh salad. So how about this fast easy healthy salad dressing.

Creamy Cilantro Lime Dressing

1 cup Cilantro Leaves
1/2 cup Plain Greek Yogurt
1/2 Lime
1 garlic clove
Salt to taste

Directions: Puree all ingredients in a blender or food processor until smooth.
Taste and adjust seasoning, if necessary. Drizzle over your salad. makes about 3/4 cup.

Enjoy!!
